This premier stretch of Tarryall Creek is home to numerous wild brown trout, cutbow trout, rainbow trout, and some Donaldson Steelhead up to 25 inches! Double digit days are not uncommon.
Tarryall Creek meanders pleasantly through the meadows and hay fields of Puma Hills Ranch, creating glassy runs, riffles, undercut banks, bend pools, and nifty tail-outs – excellent habitat for dry fly and dry dropper enthusiasts. This sought-after property is for anglers seeking a premier river experience with solitude and spectacular Colorado scenery. It doesn’t get much better than this! Puma Hills Ranch offers peaceful views, abundant trout life, challenge, back-country aesthetic, and infinite elbow room. Our senior guides say, “It still feels like what Colorado used to be.”
Water conditions on this creek can vary due to weather and water flow. However, it’s position downstream towards the confluence of the South Platte makes this venue more consistent in terms of water conditions than others throughout the picturesque Tarryall Valley. Abundant insect life make dry fly fishing here a frequent delight. In the property log book, anglers have reported up to 40 fish days, on hopper-dropper rigs, without ever changing patterns. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife as the valley is home to all sorts of Colorado natives.
