Our SWA's: Tomahawk, Tarryall Creek, Badger Basin, Spinney Mountain, Knight-Imler
There is an abundance of fly fishing opportunities within our Colorado State Wildlife Area’s. The Middle Fork of the South Platte, Tarryall Creek, and the South Fork of the South Platte have everything any angler would desire- riffles, braids, pools, undercut banks, pocket water, and beaver ponds.
Colorado Public Water Fishing
Tomahawk, Alma, Badger Basin, Spinney Mountain, Knight-Imler are fantastic fisheries surrounded by breathtaking vistas and postcard views. They offer prime trout habitat and a destination for the angler seeking solitude and looking for trout eager to take flies on the surface.
Bouncing the banks with large hoppers in the summer and fall is standard fare. While most of the trout caught here are on the smaller side, fall brings out the big browns from the undercuts and trout moving up river from the reservoirs.
