Deckers River Report – Ron Pecore
Deckers water is still running high and crossing the river can still be difficult. This week I had a couple trips there and had average fish counts. Once again I’m seeing good hatches and noticed several large Golden Stone flies. I am finding fish with nymph rigs by adjusting my weight and indicator depth. With the Goldens flying around my clients are picking up a few with a gold Amys Ant and dropping a PMD or Blue wing dry.
My nymph rigs are set with a Olive Pats rubber legs and a 18 or 17 PMD emerger or Pheasant tail and a small Juju Baitis or Black Beauty. Overall my fish counts for the year are down but I think this has more to do with the sustained high flows and the inability to get to all the holes.
