SOUTH PLATTE RIVER FISHING REPORT with Jeremy Hamilton – Late October, 2016

5280 Angler Graphic Art
Fly fishing guide Jeremy Hamilton delivers the latest South Platte River fly fishing report from…THE OCEAN. He may be on vacation in Florida chasing elusive redfish, but Jeremy knows we all need to know what’s happening around the Front Range waters. He called upon the 5280 Angler guide team for intel in putting together the latest video fishing update…

Flows have dropped in the Deckers area. Lightening up the tippet is in order. Nymph rigs with a San Juan worm, trailed by small baetis and midge patterns will turn fish. In the clear water, be mindful of your stealth.

Big fish and big crowds of anglers have migrated into the Dream Stream. Plan accordingly. Reminder: leave the spawning trout alone. Worms (red/brown), bwo patterns such as pheasant tails, two bit hookers, and others are all working well. There are still kokanee salmon to be found up there as well.

If you’re looking for a bit more solitude, Clear Creek and Bear Creek continue to fish well. Marcelo has been fishing streamers below chatfield for smallies, and Luke has been picking up lots of fish on the Eagle with small black midge patterns.

In other GREAT NEWS, Boxwood Gulch Ranch is set to reopen as water flows have risen on the North Fork of the South Platte! The patio fireplace and heated clubhouse make Boxwood the perfect fall destination!

Have fun and fish safely everyone!
